We're moving! Look for Indygo Junction soon on Handicraft.com

Last week I attended an event that I always look forward to, Common Threads. The event is sponsored by Baby Lock and takes place in their hometown of St. Louis, which, luckily is just a hop, skip and a jump away from my home in Kansas City. Speaking of skip, I traveled with my friend Cindy aka Skip To My Lou aka "Skippy". We had a great time at the conference, exploring and shopping in the city (see more on my Amy Barickman Studio blog).

This was the second time I have attended this inspiring and educational retreat. We were treated to classes with some amazing instructors like Sara Gallegos, Lindsay Wilkes and Evy Hawkins – all while working on the fabulous Baby Lock machines. One of my favorite classes was Lindsay, who taught us how to make pillowcase dresses for the Little Dresses for Africa organization. In the picture above you can see Cindy and I posing in front a wall of finished dresses.

The best part of the meeting is connecting with the of wonderful community bloggers, magazine editors, publishers, and the fabulous Baby Lock staff. It is a chance to really get to know each other and discuss the challenges and rewards this industry offers. Below you can see the full Common Threads group, as well as a picture of me, Jenny Doan and her daughters Sarah and Natalie from Missouri Star Quilt Co. Recently, I filmed a tutorial with Jenny on how to create a Crossroads Quilt – see it here.

I also enjoy getting a chance to learn more about the “magic” of the Baby Lock machines.  They are amazing tools and also offer the BEST in customer support— both on the technical as well as inspirational side. Cindy and I loved the time we had together at the event learning and laughing. A special thanks goes out to to Carla, the Baby Lock educator who was always there to help us out on the projects.
