In honor of the release of our new video, Recycle Denim Jeans, we are sharing tips for denim all week long! Today we want to share with you one of our favorite denim design techniques, combining and reversing the denim to create layers of color. Our Pieced Pet Pillow is a perfect example. Don't feel like you need to try to match your denims - combining different colors creates a unique patchwork effect.

If you want a contrast, but want to keep the same tone, try using the "wrong side" of the denim with the right side - which is what we did below in our Modern Gored Skirt.

This pillow from our Dimensional Denim book shows the reverse side of the denim used for the diamond decoration. Notice how we used the flat felled side seam as a decorative element between the diamond rows. The colored pillows are made using our Crossroads Denim fabric, which has 18 colors of denim.

Denim is a perfect fabric to use for home storage projects because it is so strong. Here we made our Sort Your Stuff Organizer with multiple colors of recycled denim, as well as the wrong side of some pieces - you can see that in the large pocket at the bottom.

I loved the pouf made of patchwork denim. That would work in our tv room. Thanks for the inspiration.

The pillow looks so cute. Perfect for me, since there are times my seams get frayed, without my seeing it.
