Yesterday I realized that it is time to get my ducks in a row and Christmas projects planned and started. Maybe some of you folks are better organized and are already knee-deep in gift-sewing? Good for you! For those of you who haven't started your gift planning, I will be posting quick gift ideas on Fridays as we get closer to the holiday season. The Quilted Kitchen is a great project that is universally functional - I mean, who doesn't need new oven mitts? Here you can see it in some adorable Christmas fabric from Riley Blake. We created the square patchwork oven mitt as well as the double sided mitt. The pattern also offers instructions for a patchwork round hot pad and a pot handle protector. The fun thing about the double sided oven mitt is that you can turn it upside down to use on the table as a trivet. Kitchen projects are perfect vehicles for novelty fabrics that you wouldn't necessarily use for garments or in a big quilt. In a small accessory like this, you can let your imagination go wild with fabric choices!
