Rick rack is back, baby. Or did it ever go away? This traditional trim dates back as early as the 1800s, when it was better known as “waved braid.” These days, the zig-zag accent is popping up in fashion accessories, house wares, garments and more. Rick rack adds playful pizzazz to our Uptown Tops & Trousers (IJ821), Tic-Tac-Tote (IJ791), Composition Covers (IJ882), Yo-Yo Pincushions (IJ845) and Rick Rack Apron (IJ872). Available in hordes of hues and sizes ranging from itty-bitty to jumbo, a strip of this stuff is sure to jazz up anything from baby blankets and bibs to curtains and skirts. Add flair to a plain pair of hand towels or the edge of a pillowcase. Simply topstitch the trim to a readymade item for instant no-fuss frills. Don't forget to browse all of designs that feature rick rack. Want to learn more about the history of rick rack and enter for a chance to win your own rick rack stash? I’ve always loved rick rack and am glad it’s back in vogue! I’d like to try sewing it on the curve…it has a nice appeal to me.

I learned to sew from my grandmother who was a dressmaker…but haven’t done anything creative in many years. My 28 year old daughter has just taken her first sewing class….and loved it! I would love to use all the goodies in this gift…would love to make the rick rack Apron and learn to “slip a strip between the seams”! What a surprise that would be for her….and the sewing bug will continue to pass down the generations.

The little animal stocking stuffers are adorable. I use to sew an animal similar to these for autograph puppies….
