I am a crossbody purse fan – I like being hands free while I'm out and about, especially if I'm on vacation. The only downside to a crossbody is that often the bag body is small. And sometimes I need more room. The Side Note Satchel is a perfect combination of crossbody style with tote size. And of course, for those who don't care for a crossbody we have included a shoulder length as well! PIJ1137-2

The crossbody can be made out of any cotton fabric. It doesn't matter how light it is, because we used Soft & Stable as the interfacing, which gives the bag a structure that stands on its own, but isn't stiff. The bag below was made with Kaffe Fassett's shot cotton, which is a very thin fabric, but works for the purse because of the interfacing. PIJ1137-4T

The bag below, which is made from Marcia Derse fabric, shows the shoulder length version of the satchel.

We also created a version vintage barkcloth - what a fun way to mix and match fabrics! PIJ1137-6T

Of course, we like to include a recycled option in all our patterns and this one is no different! This version uses the flat felled seams of jeans to create texture and layers. PIJ1137-5T
