I am a crossbody purse fan – I like being hands free while I'm out and about, especially if I'm on vacation. The only downside to a crossbody is that often the bag body is small. And sometimes I need more room. The Side Note Satchel is a perfect combination of crossbody style with tote size. And of course, for those who don't care for a crossbody we have included a shoulder length as well!
The crossbody can be made out of any cotton fabric. It doesn't matter how light it is, because we used Soft & Stable as the interfacing, which gives the bag a structure that stands on its own, but isn't stiff. The bag below was made with Kaffe Fassett's shot cotton, which is a very thin fabric, but works for the purse because of the interfacing.
The bag below, which is made from Marcia Derse fabric, shows the shoulder length version of the satchel.
We also created a version vintage barkcloth - what a fun way to mix and match fabrics!
Of course, we like to include a recycled option in all our patterns and this one is no different! This version uses the flat felled seams of jeans to create texture and layers.
