This contest has ended. Congratulations to Joanne R. who is the lucky winner!
Winter is coming, so you know it's time to get out your old sweaters. This year though, you won't get to wear them, you'll be too busy cutting them up to make our new Upcycled Santa and Elf pattern!
These two buddies are made out of recycled sweaters (although you can also make them out of fabric yardage). Their cute faces are appliqued and embroidered on.
We made our Santa out of soft recycled cashmere - so luxurious! We got our sweaters from our local thrift store, where there are so many styles and fabrics to choose from. Our thrift stores often have discount days, which are fantastic – we have found some amazing deals!
The elf is made from a wool sweater, which needs to be felted before you use it. Felting is easy, it is basically just washing and drying your wool. Look on YouTube for how-to videos.
Fill them with pellets and they will watch over your holiday fun all season long!

Christmas Calendar:
I made a Christmas Calendar crosstictced calendar that went up by Dec. 1st every year and still does over thirty years ago for my three boys with little rings and tiny gift bags attached and from Dec. 1st to the 24th a secret message was put in the appropriate day and the boys would rush downstairs to get the message or clue and get the prize or reward or privilege.
It was glorious to see their simple joy in the days awaiting Christ’s birth.
Happy Memories and tradition that has stood over the years.
